Today late night i was having conversation with my family friend about our kid’s future.
Both of our kids are studying in Cambridge curriculum and worried about their higher studies. For a moment I was also stunt when we think about after 10th very few of the school have Cambridge curriculum and to appear for most of the India completion it requires CBSE curriculum and literally worried that what our kids will do, will they do B. Tech or normal graduation.
Because we are working in IT industry and have been in this industry more than a decade now recently observing that those new generation coming and joining the project they are seriously not enjoying the work or not excited about the work.
By looking the survey I don’t know how much truth but 90% people do not love what they do. In fact major crowd are confused why did engineering and came to IT irrespective of their core branch.
When I looked back my schooling time, because I was good at mathematics and after 12th only I was aware by looking at the major crowd went for engineering completion preparation. Of course my own brother is Mechanical Engineer. I was following my brother footprint because they were so talented student in their academic and very hard working and focused about career.
I remember during my 12th I visited my brother job place and as he is mechanical engineer he has to work in the factory and definitely hard work was there. Some time he used to get hurt also and I used to see other people who used to work in computer department and they were sitting in A.C. and I got fascinated about computer engineering and decided if I will do engineering then I will choose IT/Computer Branch.
Without knowing my interest I just got fascinated about this and finally I got admission in B.E. IT branch. I still remember when I was going for Java classes and other people were making program, I used to copy paste from them and execute the code. I never made single program in entire 4 years my engineering degree.
I also got job as Tester where no need to write a coding and I have been working in Testing field more than decade but indeed not passionate about.
So here I want to make point that 90% people are not really sure about their passion or they are fascinated about what they are doing. Or major people are doing so he/she is also doing it.
Now I don’t want to carry this to my next generation, and I decided what big business people give their kids in education, and I understood they give best education and give mindset and environment to think outside of the box. Is it familiar about this word, yes in our IT world? Since childhood we just followed someone or fascinated about now everyone expect we should think outside of the box.
Now if I understand correctly latest IT trend that only High Skilled IT professional making good money and rest are just surviving and coming down the 2 years to 5 years from now only skilled professional get paid handsome salary and remaining people will be surviving with more than 1 job.
Now questions is what our kids want or what they are passionate about, I request each parent to spend month or year time to understand the real potential or passion and give them additional boost now onwards. Parents do not worry much about their future now rather identify their passion what they love doing and excel them by providing additional classes.
My son Aayush around 12 years old is love to know about crickets and he has all the knowledge about cricket but the day he read one book “Dream – Struggle – Victor” by Ruben Gonzalez and he decided to become Cricketer and last month he joined the cricket classes.
My daughter Saanvi (Pari) around 7 years old is love teaching (coaching) and she wants to become teacher/trainer/coach, and she is passionate about it.
