Our ESG Strategy
We have key principles for our #esg
Loops within loops is a circular approach to business which designs out the waste and embeds sustainability in the business. Hiring modular buildings lends itself perfectly to a #sustainable , circular economy which reduces the need for virgin materials at each step, maximises utility of assets throughout their life and minimise the impact on the environment without compromising value to the customer. It fundamental to our building model and operations.
Why select modular?
What's happening in our European sister companies?
McDonald’s Restaurant, UKGBC Net Zero Carbon Building
Our UK team has delivered the UK’s first carbon Net Zero McDonald’s restaurant in Market Drayton, utilising a modular solution. It was the first building in the country to meet the UK Green Building Council’s Net Zero Carbon Framework, minimising environmental impact and achieving a Net Zero build.
Building modules were constructed using a steel-framed system, a totally recyclable material, and sourced from a UK supplier with certified Environmental Policy Declarations.
Sustainable features include sheep’s wool insulation, with cladding, ceiling, floor and wall tiles made from recycled plastic, a rainwater harvesting system, wind turbine electricity generation and photovoltaic car park lighting.
“We’ve already started to roll out some of these innovations to other restaurants, but what is exciting about Market Drayton is the fact it will act as a blueprint for our future new builds. We believe that our food needs to be served in restaurants that are sustainable for the future. Market Drayton is a big step towards making that a reality.”
Beth Hart, Vice President, Supply Chain and Brand Trust, #McDonald’s
The kitchen incorporates a heat exchange that feeds into the dining area for energy efficiency. The restaurant was 80% completed in our factory before being transported to site, minimising waste and maximising quality control, efficiency and speed of construction.
“This is a landmark project for McDonald’s and the building industry as a whole. Achieving a Net Zero carbon build confirms that the ambitious targets set for the built environment are achievable using our modular and offsite solutions.” Graham Stevenson, Construction Manager Algeco UK.

Ausco's Adelaide factory goes solar
In April 2023, Ausco placed #solarpanels on the roof of its Adelaide factory as part of our progress towards the ultimate goal of being #netzero by 2050.
In a few short months, we have seen amazing results and our factory is pulling up to 40% less power from the grid compared to previous years.
Ausco started in Adelaide over 60 years ago, so it was only fitting that it was the factory to launch our solar initiative. Next, our Melbourne and Perth facilities will be next. We are also trialing solar panels as a hire product for our customers so watch this space.
Award honour for Garbutt Magpies
Longtime friend and collaborator of Ausco, the Garbutt Magpies were honoured with the 2023 Queensland Reconciliation Community Award. It is an understatement to say it was well deserved and that we were proud shoulder to shoulder with the organisation as they were recognised.
Based in Townsville, the Garbutt Magpies are more than a sporting club. It is a cultural connection to country, a support and guidance system for young #indigenous people and it is #reconciliation in action.
On Wednesday 2 August 2023, the annual Garbutt Magpie Cup will be held to coincide with National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day. Ausco will be there to support the Magpie. Ausco is also bringing over the young people of Palm Island to join the competition and celebration so we are keen to be there to cheer on those players. Read More
