Road-going Toyota Hilux GR Sport inspired by Dakar Rally winner

Now available to test drive at our locations across the region, the newly arrived Hilux GR Sport more than earns its place at the top of Toyota’s Hilux pick-up range after winning the Dakar Rally for the second year running.

Launched in the UK last summer, the road-going Hilux GR Sport was inspired by its racing counterpart which took top spot once again when the grueling race, often regarded as the world’s toughest race, came to its exciting conclusion in Saudi Arabia at the start of this year (15 January 2023). It followed 2022’s victory when the Toyota Gazoo racing team drove to glory.

With its powerful 2.8-litre engine delivering 201bhp and 500Nm of torque matched to a six-speed automatic transmission and 3.5-tonne towing capacity and one-ton payload, the Hilux GR Sport is practical, robust and a design icon. One of the most reliable pick-ups in the UK, the GR Sport has a maximum speed of 108 mph with an 80-litre tank capacity delivering 30 mpg and is Euro 6 fuel compliant.

Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah and his French co-driver Mathieu Baumel were once again crowned winners in 2023 after completing the desert race ahead of the second-placed team by 1hr 20 min and 49 sec with an overall time of 45hr 03min and 15 sec. This year’s win followed the 2022 Dakar Rally when the drivers took first place overall by 27min 46sec completing all stages in 38hr 33min 3sec. Toyota also took fourth and fifth places in this year’s event.
