According to the Passport Index 2018, Seychelles has the strongest passport in Africa followed by Mauritius and South Africa in the 2nd & 3rd positions respectively. Mauritius is ranked 62nd globally on 199 countries.
Seychelles and Mauritius have improved their standing over the decade. Seychelles climbed 17 places, and Mauritius 16 places. The islands’ improvement is largely due to being the only African countries who have a visa-waiver agreement with the Schengen area, according to Henley.
