The world's first true evolution in corporate travel booking comes from New Zealand...again.

The world's first true evolution in corporate travel booking comes from New Zealand...again.

Travel, essentially the most personal experience, it's emotive, exciting, stressful and rewarding. Depending on who we are and what we're doing our decisions are either affected by cost, loyalty, experience or compliance. Why are these fundamental's so important?

Decisions...We are less likely to allow cost to affect our decision if we need to travel to close a business deal, if we're running to a budget then cost is the leading driver of our decisions of when and how we travel. If the status/points we hold on an airline are important because we use this benefit for our own personal travel then this loyalty plays a huge part in our corporate travel decision.... and then there's experience, how the decisions of what we've done in the past and those direct experiences then influence the choice of what we book.

So imagine if the technology we use to book travel actually knew this, what would this mean as we all work differently and interact differently depending on the type of travel we are about to embark on.

Step 1. In July we released predictive booking on mobile, it learns your behavior and makes the right choices for you. Here's a comment "this is simple stunning made two bookings and it knew where and what flight I was going to take - its so cool" Yes predictive booking is real but this was just the first step.

Step 2. Now your wondering what else? and you'll have to wait a little to see it, just a few more months. But imagine this, a booking solution that switches purchasing modes based on you, that's right not one way of booking not one user interface , but the right way for you. Imagine every image, every leisure aspect and every decision was just how we wanted it to be experienced. No difference between consumer and corporate yet with technology that adapts to not only the device but the way you want to book.

Technology this cool had to be given an internal code name, one that never goes out to the public...woops. Welcome to project 'green viper' you're going to love it, it will make you smile, it'll make you want to come back and use it and how many booking platforms can you actually say that about.

so the countdown begins......

This sounds exciting and based on some of the things I've seen Serko produce recently, this will set the bar and move a step closer to what customers are wanting, a more seamless intuitive and consistent look and feel to the platform which will recognise differing purposes of travel purposes.

I look forward to seeing this in action and hope it can do all of the things you say it can. This is where the technology is headed but I don't think anyone has come close to really getting it right just yet. Personally, I think that a truly intuitive, intelligent and stable platform is still a few years off but I hope you will prove me wrong.
