IP Strategy Boot Camp Program Update: Colleges Edition - February Highlights

This February, our IP Strategy Boot Camp has been an intensive journey designed to deepen the understanding of intellectual property (IP) rights among budding professionals. We delved into the pivotal role of IP in the data-driven economy, led by esteemed associate professor Bassem Awad from Western Law at 加拿大西安大略大学 . His session laid the foundation with an introduction to the program and insights into IP valuation.

The following week, Ryan T. Evans and Patrick Roszell from Smart & Biggar enlightened us on the intricacies of patents, utility models, and industrial designs. Their expertise clarified the legal requirements for patentability and the importance of patent search engines in prior art exploration.

Meika E. continued the series by taking a deep dive into trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. She explored everything from registration processes to the sensitive issues surrounding Indigenous rights and misappropriation.

In our fourth session, Jonathan Martin from Gilbert's LLP provided strategic guidance on developing an effective IP strategy, a crucial component for anyone navigating the IP landscape.

Stay connected for more updates on our upcoming programs that promise to build on this momentum and continue fostering expertise in intellectual property.
