World Youth Skills Day: Celebrating Youth Empowerment at YOTA
YOTA - Youth Opportunity & Transformation in Africa
Ghana's foremost destination for youth policy, practice and research.
Today is World Youth Skills Day! At YOTA, we are dedicated to empowering young people with the skills they need to thrive in today’s dynamic world. On this special day, we celebrate the achievements of our youth and renew our commitment to fostering a brighter future through skill development and education.
This year’s World Youth Skills Day theme, "Youth Skills for Peace and Development," highlights the critical role of youth in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. At YOTA, we believe that by equipping young people with the necessary tools and knowledge, we are not only helping them to transform their communities but also enabling them to lead impactful lives through some of our key initiatives:
Youth On Board Project:
This initiative is geared toward amplifying youth voices in Ghana’s education response to the COVID-19 pandemic. By involving young people in decision-making processes, we ensure that their perspectives and ideas are considered in policy formulation and implementation. This project empowers youth to be active participants in their communities, fostering a sense of responsibility and leadership.
Get Into Programme:
This program equips youth with essential soft skills and technical skills and work experience, subsequently placing them in fulfilling job roles. By providing training in areas such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, along with industry-specific technical skills, we prepare young people for the job market. The success of this program is reflected in the numerous youth who have secured meaningful employment and are contributing to economic growth.

PASEWAY Project:
The PASEWAY project is famous for training a majority of females and males in the construction trade areas and helping them to formalize their SMEs. This initiative not only provided practical skills training but also offered support in entrepreneurship, enabling youth to start and grow their businesses. By focusing on sectors with high demand for skilled labor, we ensure that our training programs are aligned with market needs, thereby increasing employment opportunities for youth.
?Africa Youth Partnership for an Equitable Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic:
Through the Africa Youth Partnership, we have engaged, supported, and empowered young people to put their ideas into action and play a leading role in the recovery. Through this work, we have engendered increased attention to and investment in addressing the critical issues of social and economic inequality that have been escalated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our Impact
Through these and many other initiatives, YOTA has reached thousands of young people across Ghana, providing them with practical skills training, leadership development, and employment opportunities. By focusing on youth skills development, we are fostering a generation of empowered individuals who are capable of driving positive change in their communities.
