Match report From Coach Mathew Russ

Santos Volts 2 vs 1 DTFC Titans U15s

After a few weeks off, the Titans were back on the road, facing a very strong Santos team that has won every game by multiple goals this season.

With only 11 players available due to injury, illness, and other commitments, the Titans knew they were up against it. Santos started strongly, dominating possession and forcing the Titans into errors, but couldn’t break down a resilient defense. The Titans soon realized that their work rate, effort, and determination were more than a match for anything Santos could throw at them and began creating a few chances for themselves. At halftime, it was 0-0, and the lads were enjoying themselves!

Early in the second half, Santos scored after the home referee awarded them a very soft free kick. They quickly doubled their lead after some fantastic footwork from their midfielder, who rifled in a shot from the edge of the box.

However, the lads did not let this distract them from their game plan. Within 5 minutes, the Titans pulled one back through captain Lewis Dunlop, and it was more than deserved. Santos continued to dominate possession, but the Titans defended well and counterattacked at the right moments. Unfortunately, the Titans couldn’t find the equalizer they probably deserved based on their efforts.

The lads were obviously disappointed with the result but were all extremely proud of their efforts! Every single one of them were brilliant. The Socius24-sponsored Player of the Match went to Lewis Dunlop, who had an excellent game, captained the team brilliantly, and scored a goal too!
