World Without Books

Perhaps one of the most difficult tasks to be undertaken is defining the term "book," because its reality cannot be captured in a few sentences. It can be described as an accumulation of multiple alternate universes or a means of preserving information. Information that both describes the world we live in or makes it even more vivid.?A single sheet can completely transform someone’s world. Pages bound together and protected by a cover allow humans to invest their time intellectually. A book can have multiple parts or chapters or even different sections, yet the intellectual content can differ significantly.

In this blog, we acknowledge the multiple roles that books play in our lives and therefore understand how difficult it is to imagine a world without them.

Why are books important?

Books encapsulate the power to connect human beings across generations, races, religions, and different time periods. A simple piece of paper, such as the Declaration of Independence or someone's death certificate, has the power to flip someone's world upside down, so we can only imagine the power that an entire book holds. When we are familiar with books as a child, they open multiple worlds of imagination about the outside world while simultaneously enhancing our reading, writing, and speaking skills. Books allow our minds to grow, both intellectually and emotionally, as we learn multiple life lessons from them. From self-improvement to stress relief to creative writing, a single book can embody multiple realms.

How do books impact our world?

Books have the power to educate even those whose mindsets cannot be changed. They expand our horizons while enabling us to broaden our worldview, which makes us better humans. Through the power of the literary device of analogies, George Orwell educated the citizens about the revolution, allowing them to realize who the actual enemy was in the 1900s in Russia. Biographies such as that of Barack Obama have politically motivated citizens to vote for the right person and understand the politics of their country. Even after a person has died, a biography allows them to live on and continue to help people.

In the absence of books.

No matter how revolutionized the world has become or how modernized technology is, it can never replace books. The text on a screen or a device, or even a film, can never be equal to a printed book and its smell. Through multiple sentences, terms, and phrases, writers create textual beauty that nothing can compensate for. Therefore, the world will be at a great loss without books. Books act as a bridge between the real world and the written one. Therefore, as the writer pens down their ideas and experiences, the reader enters into a world that they could not have even imagined. The new possibilities and perspectives enable the reader to grow massively even after reading a few words, which makes us more sympathetic humans. The radio, television, and Internet do not have these qualities. The safe space and road to success that books offer cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Even every religion is bound by a book that connects every follower, no matter which time period or country they belong to. Hence, books are timeless.

Having said that, one of Pakistan's leading book publishing companies, Dastaan.com, aims to provide a book in every hand in this country. They have helped approximately 7000 authors to publish their books and preserve their stories. Dastaan has published the work of even a 9-year-old and a PhD professor who has dedicated his entire life to a certain field.

Irrespective of your reading taste, whether it is sci-fi, or biography, Dastaan is the ideal choice for you as the meraqissa bookstore offers many different genres through a very user-friendly website.
