World Wide Technology Day of Caring

World Wide Technology Day of Caring

I'm blessed to work for a company that encourages community service. On March 4, 2022 employees of World Wide Technology, along with family, friends, and partners gathered for a “Day of Caring” at My Warriors Place in Ruskin, Florida.?

My Warrior’s Place is a Retreat Center for Veterans, Military Service Members, First Responders, Gold Star, Blue Star, White Star and Silver Star Families. They offer a variety of amazing programs to help with healing the body and soul. MWP was founded by Gold Star mother Kelly Kowall who lost her son Specialist Corey Kowall in Afghanistan in Sep, 2009.

This is the third Day of Caring that we’ll held at My Warrior’s Place and the most successful yet.?We had 30 people in attendance representing our Public Sector, SLED, Enterprise, Professional Services, and Sales Ops teams as well as the CEO of partner DGR Systems, Amanda Dugger.?To make it even more special, 19 of the volunteers are veterans.

Over the course of the afternoon the group completed 12 distinct projects at the facility!?This much work can only be done with a flash mob of this size!?Here is a list of the projects that this fantastic team completed.

1. Completed the roof at the unit by the kennel.

2. Completed the re-decking of the flatbed trailer including treating rust on the frame.

3. Completed the brick work around the gravel entry to the kennel.?

4. Cleared and cleaned out gutters on blue cottage and office.

5. Trimmed up the mangrove on the left side.

6. Dug out and leveled the pavers on the sidewalk leading into the courtyard.?

7. Cleaned and painted the sign out front.

8. Cleaned and painted the clothing drop box.

9. Cleaned the tables and chairs around the coy pond.

10. Added a couple of spotlights to shine on the eagle statues at the entrance.

11. Documented and got new Facilities Supervisor, Steven up to speed on the WiFi network.??

12. Moved a collection of fencing and posts from the lot over by the kennel.?

?I can neither confirm nor deny the reports that there may have been a few beers and cigars to celebrate the accomplishments of the day!

?I can’t thank everyone enough for all of the hard work and the comradery.?What an amazing cause and an amazing team.?Every volunteer was awarded one of the newly minted WWT VETS ERG Challenge Coins as a thank you for their efforts. It’s very fitting that our ERG motto is VETS “Veterans Empowering Teams Through Service”.
