Will China own Tesla Optimus?
At the 2024 World Robot Conference in Beijing, Chinese companies unveiled 27 humanoid robots, emphasizing their ambition to lead the robotics industry. Tesla's Optimus was the only foreign competitor present. Among the notable entries were AGIBOT, utilizing large language models for industrial and customer service applications, and Astribot's S1 robot, capable of writing calligraphy and playing musical instruments.
Despite the impressive display, experts note that Chinese manufacturers face significant technological challenges and high costs. While China may lag behind the U.S. in AI, its commitment to dominating the humanoid robotics field is clear.
Free ChatGPT Users Can Now Generate Images
Free ChatGPT users now have access to OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 image generation model, which was previously available only to those with premium subscriptions. This significant update means that anyone using the free version of ChatGPT can now create high-quality, custom visuals directly within the chatbot, bringing advanced AI-powered image generation to a wider audience. This move aligns with OpenAI's broader mission to democratize AI technology, making it more accessible to the general public. However, while free users can experiment with DALL-E 3, those who require more extensive use such as generating more than two images will need to subscribe to the ChatGPT Plus plan, which costs $20 per month.?
This plan provides additional benefits and removes some of the limitations imposed on free users, offering a more robust experience for those who need greater functionality. Despite this, there are still other free image generation tools available on the market, such as Adobe Firefly, Runway, and Midjourney, which provide users with alternative options to explore creative possibilities without needing to upgrade to a paid service.
