World War III
If you are reading this, you are a survivor of World War III. It happened and it is over. Half a million dead souls, the world shut down for few months, and humanity is trying to recover, pulling itself from the wreckage of a war that caused immense economic, social, and mental damage.
The Facade:
The facade might appear intact, but the living souls within have been scathed forever. The transient tremendous change of events never happened on this scale and speed in history. The Globe in four months went from “Normal” to “Abnormal” to “Cautious Recovery”, the subconscious mind will for sure have registered this, and will pass it on to future generations as an evolution/mutation.
The Prisoners of War and The Army:
Children unable to fathom the invisible war which led them to skip school, and stay imprisoned indoors. The elderly, threatened every instance with the invisible enemy; “don’t come near them [the elderly]”, “don’t let them leave their homes”, and “lets prepare ICUs for them”. The adults became the army; they’d work, take care of the children and elderly, and try to win over the invisible enemy.
The Superhero:
The Medal of Honor goes to Technology. It came as a savior; in all aspects, be it operationally, educationally, health-wise, economically, or socially. What would have we done without it?
Propaganda:
The conventional and social media exacerbated the confusion and exploited the pandemonium. Just like in any war, the media machine was operating in overdrive. The verdict is out: the media will always be taken with a grain of salt.
Winners and Losers:
World Wars I and II led to radical changes in the world; some positive and some negative, a mixed bag; yet, very radical changes.
In this War, there are no winners or losers, there are lessons learned, there is hope, and there is humility.
Humanity is humbled... Humbled by an invisible enemy…

4 年Very well written although I would say the real hero award is shared between technology and the first responders- the doctors and nurses and all those essential workers reminded us what the best of humanity is about. Although I wish I share the optimism that the war is over - I believe it was only the major battle and still a long way for either humanity or COVID to declare victory -
