World Views and Business Principles

Every successful organization has leaders who understand their Purpose for existing, have a clearly articulated and memorable Vision of what success looks like "X" years out, have clearly stated Core Values to which they can be held accountable, have a concise Mission statement that will lead them to achieve their Vision, follow easily understood Operating Principles (Norms), and know which Metrics to monitor consistently to see if they are on the right path. I'd argue that these important variables will vary widely depending on what one's personal world view is and the collective world view of any leadership team that creates them. My next book will investigate the power of one's world view to inform such organizational imperatives. Know what yours is? Know why you hold it? Know where it came from?

Can you articulate yours and recognize its imperatives for action? What is your world view elevator speech when I query you--and I will. Have any thoughts on the issue? Let's start a conversation. You can respond here (the best option for shared learnings) or email me at [email protected]. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Who knows, you might even get a footnote or two. You can check out my early thoughts on this issue (the emphasis being on "early") in a couple of my books (all available at Amazon Books or the "Bookstore" at www.execustrat.com).
