World Tourism Day: a call to be brave and responsible
At Grupo Pi?ero we join the celebration of the World Tourism Day (27 September) and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the employees, travellers, suppliers, local community and all the industry companies that with their daily efforts make it possible to develop an industry as important as tourism, a key engine for economic, social and cultural development that actively contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Since March we have been hit by the biggest crisis in our industry, triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought our activity to a standstill and has had devastating economic and social effects worldwide. In the particular case of our company, thanks to the commendable work of the teams that are part of Grupo Pi?ero and the trust placed in us by our clients, in July we were able to bounce back and start receiving the first guests willing to live exciting experiences in the destinations where we operate in a healthy and safe way.
At Grupo Pi?ero we are bravely and enthusiastically tackling a volatile and complex environment arising from this pandemic. But now more than ever we continue to work in strict adherence to our main values: collaboration, respect, passion, setting an example and continuous improvement.
I am very proud of this because I am totally convinced that tourism companies are a key element in tackling this crisis. For this reason, I would like to call on us all to be brave and responsible. And for this very same reason, I would like to call on all tourism companies to continue advancing towards the sustainability of our business in order to promote change processes in our employees, clients and society at large to generate the shared value that we all need in times like this.
Once again, our sincerest thanks go to our employees, travellers, suppliers, the tourist industry and institutions alike.
