World Teachers’ Day 2022

October 5th is World Teachers' Day

World Teachers' Day has been celebrated every year since 1994. The date marks the anniversary of?UNESCO's formal recommendation?concerning the status of teachers. If you haven't read it before, take a quick look. You will find a lot of interesting information there; for instance, did you know that the UN recognizes proper education as a human right? Or that a teacher shortage has been an issue as far back as 1966? Which brings us to the theme of this year's World Teachers' Day:

"The transformation of education begins with teachers."

It's as true today as it ever was. Teachers are the backbone of education. Without educators, there would be no education. Holidays like World Teachers' Day serve as a necessary reminder of this fact. So it is crucial that if society hopes to transform and improve education, the first steps start with teachers. We have to open up a dialogue and ask them what THEY want and need to help them shape young minds.

"Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the critical role of teachers in transforming learners’ potential by ensuring they have the tools they need to take responsibility for themselves, for others and for the planet. We call on countries to ensure that teachers are trusted and recognized as knowledge producers, reflective practitioners, and policy partners."
