World Suicide Prevention Day
Earlier this week I had the most profound experience listening to a colleague share openly about her father 'completing' suicide, not 'committing' - this makes it sound like a crime she said. I whole heartedly agree with her statement that talking about it, de-stigmatizes suicide. We need to be talking about this more. In bp we are talking about it, well being is core to us and who we are.
I learnt that every 3 in 4 suicides being male. A colleagues shared this video which offers reflection on what it means to be a man. I watched back an online funeral of my mothers friend whose son, father of 3, took his own life. I live in fear of the fact that the suicide rate among autistics are 3-7 times higher than the average person. To think that my son could even contemplate is unbearable.
Support is always available. If you are struggling, please share, just with one person, anyone a?loved one, family, friend or colleague. There are always people to talk to such as your company EAP or book an appointment with a professional and lastly the Samaritans also offer a 24 hour helpline specifically for people touched by, or considering, suicide.

3 年Thanks Katharine. The problem sometimes is that it is very hard for the person with the troubled mind to reach out and ask for help. We should all look out for each other all the time.
