World Sleep Day 2024 is on 15 March! Should we sleep all day long, on this day? Certainly not! World Sleep Day is an annual global event held to raise awareness about the importance of sleep and the adverse impact of sleep disturbances on one’s health and well-being.

World Sleep Day Assembly Plan comprises of a Mayan Legend based drama: ‘My Worry Dolls from Guatemala’ along with other activities. The beautiful and ancient folk tradition created in Guatemala, Central America as a remedy for worrying, promotes a healthy psychological habit of releasing the mind from worries and anxieties before going to bed, to have a sound sleep.
Expressing worries is the best way to manage emotions, have a sound sleep and preserve mental health.? It is a saying that a problem shared, is the problem half solved. When the problem is shared, one can seek the other person’s opinion, advice, moral support, comfort and sympathy. Sharing may bring a complete solution to the problem but not sharing will definitely not.
The assembly aims to make students more expressive, this will help to deal with many child psychological problems and also prevent sleep disturbances and sleep disorders in children.

This plan can be used by schools of any country. The schools can conduct it for a grade / few grades/ all the grades from Class 1 to 10.
The plan has a main manual illustrating the flow of the event along with the description of the scripts/ performances/ activities in detail. Also, it includes all the necessary resources for the assembly. Activities involving videos, PPTs are not taken for this assembly as a projector facility may not be available in many school grounds.
