World Skin Day - A Unifying Purpose

Today is World Skin Day, an important day dedicated to raising awareness about the burden of skin diseases and the continued need for scientific advances to support those affected. Many of us are aware that skin is our largest organ and is crucial to our health. With over 19 million skin cells per square inch, it accounts for 10-15% of our body weight.

Across Galderma offices worldwide, teams are taking the time today to understand how our work can directly help people with skin conditions, both now and in the future. I am proud to see our team’s commitment and the continued investment in employee training on a day such as today.

Galderma is the only scaled company fully dedicated to dermatology, with a long legacy in understanding and advocating for science-backed solutions. Since 2019, we have conducted over 770 clinical trials and we disseminate these data to over 130,000 healthcare professionals annually via our proprietary medical education platform.


Galderma Sensitive Skincare Faculty

A cornerstone of our collaborative research model is the Galderma Sensitive Skincare Faculty (GSSF). Located around the world, the GSSF have been instrumental in highlighting the silent nature of sensitive skin, demonstrating that up to 40% of people living with sensitive skin have no obvious cause.

With an increase of 55% in self-reporting of sensitive skin conditions in the last two decades, the outcomes from the GSSF are more important than ever.

Reach at this scale is only possible thanks to our Integrated Dermatology Strategy across Injectable Aesthetics, Dermatological Skincare and Therapeutic Dermatology. This has been a key focus for myself and my executive team since 2019. The simple, replicable, and integrated system has enabled us to generate scientific evidence, accelerate innovation, and effectively engage with consumers, patients, and healthcare professionals across all three areas.


Therapeutic Dermatology

I was recently in Boston working with the team in preparation of key milestones later this year. During my visit, I took a few moments to review our presence in Therapeutic Dermatology and to consider its implications for Galderma’s growth. Please take a moment to hear this soundbite on this exciting business area:

As you heard, the core of our work in Therapeutic Dermatology is the pursuit of science to improve patient outcomes, particularly through new medicines that target biological pathways responsible for skin inflammation and combatting debilitating symptoms such as itch. The potential for improving patients’ quality of life as this science advances, is significant.

Thanks to the breadth of products available in Therapeutic Dermatology, we maintain consistent engagement with healthcare professionals, with our in-field teams central to maintaining quality and the human face of Galderma at each touchpoint.

As we look to launch new products in our commercial portfolio, we are also building out our field teams. Having spent time ‘carrying the bag’ as a sales rep and as a district manager, I know personally how these roles are critical steps to advance your career. Consequently, I am passionate to create the same opportunities in Galderma.

We have selected existing Sales team members to be trained for our new commercial opportunities. By demonstrating Galderma’s core values, they now have the opportunity to expand their career experience. Coupled with the infusion of new talent into the organization, our in-field teams are ready to move at the speed that patients and customers require – right from day one.


As CEO, my role is to create focused action while understanding the full scope of information. The next half of the year has a clear focus as Galderma expands in Therapeutic Dermatology, while also advancing our portfolio to help people with diverse skin needs around the world.

Our embedded Integrated Dermatology Strategy and our unifying purpose to advance dermatology for every skin story mean we are moving forward together with vision – and World Skin Day reminds us why we do this.
