The World Should Work Differently—And AI Might Just Get Us There

As a child, I often wondered why the world seemed incomplete. Some people lacked what others took for granted. I would look at the PlayStation, on cold winter evenings, and ask myself—if it was made from the same earth we all share, why couldn’t everyone have one? Why couldn’t everyone have what they needed, what they desired?

As I grew older, the realities of labor and capitalism became clear. I learned that nothing comes without a price—whether it’s money, effort, or time. I understood the value of earning what you have, of striving for something greater. But that childhood question, born of innocence and dreams, never left me: Why couldn’t the world be more just?

Now, years later, I find myself returning to that question, but with a new perspective—through the lens of artificial intelligence. In recent weeks, I’ve had the chance to dive deep into products and explore the challenges that generative AI solves today. Yet, the more I learn, the more I wonder—not just what AI can do today, but what it could mean for the future, as these models evolve and grow more intelligent.

From Research Papers to Real-Life Prototypes

I'm used to research, writing this opinion piece feels a bit like cheating. Usually, my writing publicly involves citations, references, and rigorously backed statements. But here, I’m offering something more personal—my thoughts, my speculations. And yes, I believe they’re worth considering. So, let’s.

AI has already changed the world’s expectations for the future. The compounding impact of these technologies getting just a fraction better each year is going to be huge. Scratch that—it already is huge.

During these past months, I’ve been able to develop new skills, delve into the words of AI leaders, absorb case studies, and let my imagination wander. I even built prototypes. And this, my friend, is just the beginning.

The Big Picture: Ending Human Suffering?

Now, allow me to speculate—boldly, but thoughtfully. The potential of AI, and eventually AGI, extends far beyond efficiency or improved customer experiences. The potential is much greater: it could fundamentally alter the human condition. The automation of jobs, the democratization of knowledge, the ability to address global challenges on a scale we’ve never seen before—these aren’t just possibilities; they’re promises of a reimagined future.

Consider my childhood dilemma: Why couldn’t everyone have what they wanted? In a world guided by AGI, the barriers that once stood in our way—whether they were the costs of labor, resources, or access—could dissolve. Imagine a world where no one is trapped in a dead-end job, forced to labor just to survive. I say this with empathy, as someone who once worked as a fry cook at Sonic. I loved those slushes, but the truth is, we don’t need fry cooks anymore. We don’t need people to spend their lives in menial labor when machines can do it better, faster, and without complaint.

Cutting Through the Noise

Let’s be clear: AI and AGI have the power to dismantle the barriers that have divided us for so long. But with great power comes great responsibility. We cannot afford to be complacent. The systems that have upheld inequality will evolve, finding new ways to persist if we are not vigilant.

That’s why we need to consider this. We can’t let this opportunity slip by because new divisions will arise if we’re not paying attention. The technology itself isn’t the answer—how we choose to use it will determine whether we’re moving towards a more equitable future or just dress the old problems in new clothes.

Looking Ahead: The Future Is in Our Hands—For Now

Let me take this one step further. The true pioneers of AGI’s potential might not even be born yet. They will inherit a world where the boundaries we know today no longer exist. But until they are ready to lead, it falls on us to push the boundaries, to ensure that the technology progresses in a way that benefits all of humanity.

So here I am, in the in-between, using this time to think, learn, and build. And this is just the start. The world should work differently, and I believe AI is going to help make that happen. It’s up to us to guide it there, to ensure that when those future leaders are ready, they’re stepping into a world that’s ready for them.

Again

This is just my take—it’s just what I think. But I think it’s worth discussing, and I’d love to hear what you think too. I invite you to join me, to reflect on where this technology is headed, and to consider what it could mean for us all..

“The true pioneers of AGI’s potential might not even be born yet. They will inherit a world where the boundaries we know today no longer exist.“ No lies told.
