This World is in our hands

This World is in our hands

Change the World, we say.

But what is “the world”?

What is it we want to change?

WORLD is a word, a concept we have learned to know as the reality we live in. If we examine this “truth”, it’s easy to see that there really is no World separate from us.

The World is Us… 7.77 billion human beings and all the other spices/living organisms we share this reality with. So if the world is us… what then is it we need to change?

Yep… us - you & me!

Now… what we as humans tend to do with a truth like this, is to say; Yes, look at what “they” are doing “over there”… that is not right, it’s their fault, they need to change. But there is no power in that. We have no power to change someone else. It’s a path that leads to an endless sense of powerlessness, victimhood, and suffering.

Instead, ALL our power lies within ourselves, in this present moment. I can change myself, here and now… You can change yourself, at this moment. There’s magic in this truth… should you choose to live it fully!

So how does this relate to what’s happening in our world now?

There are close to 7.8 billion people on this earth… each one living in his or her own perception of reality, where the interpretation of each moment is entirely based on past experiences.

And here we are… in unprecedented circumstances, where there are no experiences to draw from. We’re in unknown territory and with it comes a sense of uncertainty, lack of safety and therefore fear.

These current events shine a light on the desire of the human mind to Know, to identify what’s going on, categorize it as good or bad, right or wrong… all to gain a sense of control, which then gives a sense of safety. This is normal for the spices of Human Sapiens.

But what if there are no absolute answers?

What if there is no right or wrong to be found?

What would happen if we could simply be in this moment, without a need to know, without a need to make ourselves, people, actions and choices right or wrong?

Seeking to understand Why or How something happened, is living in the past. Seeking to find someone or something to blame, is living in the future. Neither can be changed.

Instead, ALL our power lies in this present moment.

What would happen if we could learn to live in this moment, with the realization that Everyone is doing their best, from his or her own perspective?

We are all ultimately seeking the same thing - safety/survival, happiness/connection and understanding/inspiration.

What if accepting this basic truth, we can learn to feel compassion for each other and our individual ways of trying to navigate this thing called human life?

Practice bringing your attention back to this moment, without a need to know the past or define the future, and reconnect with your inherent ability to deal with whatever life brings.

You might be surprised how freeing and empowering it is.

You might be surprised how you feel inspired to support instead of lash out, give instead of taking, understand instead of judging.

You might be surprised at the love arising from within… towards yourself, your fellow humans and the world.

We Are the World.
