World Organ Donation Day
World Organ Donation Day serves as a reminder of the importance of organ donation and the gift of life that donors can provide to others. Alizz Islamic Bank, the Oman Transplantation Society, and the National Organ Transplantation Programme are committed to continuing their efforts to support organ donation and improve access to life-saving transplants for all those in need.
As part of the 'Alizz Cares' pillars, the bank organized an open day to educate both its employees and the community about the importance of organ donation and its impact on saving lives. This open day included discussions with medical experts and interactive activities to engage the public in this important cause.
The Oman Transplantation Society and the National Organ Transplantation Programme have previously organized various initiatives and campaigns to highlight the need for organ donors and dispel any myths or misconceptions surrounding the donation process. They also provided information on how individuals can register as organ donors.
Leaving a Legacy
We understand that organ donation is a relatively new concept in Oman. The foundation for organ donation in Oman was established under Shari’a law by a Fatwa issued by His Eminence, the Grand Mufti of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamed Al Khalili, in 2014. Donating one’s organs is a blessed act that saves the lives of others. Thus, opting for organ donation after death is a profound decision that reflects a deep commitment to the welfare of others.
