World Liver Day - Love Liver Live Longer
World Liver Day is observed annually on April 19th, with the aim of raising awareness about liver diseases
The liver is one of the largest and most important organs in the body. It performs numerous vital functions, such as filtering blood, storing and releasing glucose, producing bile to aid digestion, and metabolizing drugs and toxins. However, liver diseases are on the rise globally, with over 2 million deaths each year attributed to them.
One of the most prevalent liver diseases is hepatitis, which is caused by a viral infection that leads to inflammation and damage to the liver. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), an estimated 354 million people worldwide are living with viral hepatitis, with approximately more than 1.3 million deaths each year.?
In addition, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a growing concern, affecting up to 25% of the global population. It occurs when excess fat accumulates in the liver and can lead to more severe conditions such as liver cirrhosis and cancer.
Liver disease is also a growing concern in India, with a prevalence of 10-15% among the population. Recent reports indicate that liver-related deaths in India have climbed to a staggering number of 268,580 per year, accounting for 3.17% of all deaths and contributing to 18.3% of the 2 million liver-related deaths worldwide.
Despite the increasing incidence of liver disease in India, the lack of awareness and late diagnosis are major challenges in effective management. However, diagnostic centers in India are playing a crucial role in the early diagnosis and management of liver disease.?
Redcliffe Labs, India's leading diagnostic lab, is at the forefront of providing affordable and accessible liver disease diagnoses. With their state-of-the-art infrastructure and experienced medical professionals, they offer early and accurate diagnoses, which are crucial in the management of liver disease.?
