Artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, machine learning: The world is going cerebral — at least in gaming. The next big “think” is turning the human brain into a gaming console by way of an implanted software — Neurochip.

If you think that is science fiction, there are already among us people who have chips implanted in their brains. However, it is not quite as sinister as Hollywood makes it out to be.

What will it take for us to shut our eyes and travel into our favourite games — and what are the possible ethical questions we should ask? Before we get trigger-happy, more study needs to be done on the long-term effects of firing artificially created sparks into our brains to create “senses, feelings and emotions”.
