World Humanitarian Day

World Humanitarian Day

It takes a village

There is a saying that goes: It takes a village to raise a child. Similarly, it takes a village to support a person in a humanitarian crisis. With record-high humanitarian needs around the world, this year’s World Humanitarian Day (WHD) builds on this metaphor of collective endeavour to grow global appreciation of humanitarian work.

Whenever and wherever people are in need, there are others who help them. They are the affected people themselves – always first to respond when disaster strikes – and a global community that supports them as they recover. Far from the spotlight and out of the headlines, they come together to ease suffering and bring hope.

The 2022 WHD campaign shines a light on the thousands of volunteers, professionals and crisis-affected people who deliver urgent health care, shelter, food, protection, water and much more.

Each year, WHD focuses on a theme, bringing together partners from across the humanitarian system to advocate for the survival, well-being and dignity of people affected by crises, and for the safety and security of aid workers.

For this year’s WHD, we show the importance, effectiveness and positive impact of humanitarian work and the Conveyancing Foundation would like to bring the focus back to our Ukraine Appeal.

The media coverage of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine has lessened, but the needs of the people caught in the middle of devastating conflict remains ever present.

If you can, please donate to the Ukraine Appeal, where your support will go towards the massive relief effort of providing urgent help to 12 million people.

  • £30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month
  • £50 could provide blankets for four families
  • £100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month

Disasters Emergency Commitee (DEC)

The donations received through our Ukraine Appeal go to the DEC who work with?local partners in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.

Heavy fighting, shelling and air strikes across the country have had devastating consequences for civilians. Homes have been destroyed. Families have been separated. Lives have been lost.

Those who are unable to leave, often due to age or disability, find themselves isolated, without access to food and basic necessities.

The Difference Made by your Support

In March 2022, the DEC launched an appeal to provide urgent aid to people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.?The response from the British public has been incredible, raising over £300 million in the first two months.

13 DEC charities are responding to the crisis, providing emergency aid and support to families in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries. They are supplying essential items like food, water and shelter for displaced families and medical support including incubators for babies in Ukrainian hospitals. DEC charities and their local partners are also supporting vital protection work to ensure vulnerable people are kept safe and helping them settle into their new lives.

Without the support of people like you, none of this could be achieved, so it's important that on this World Humanitarian Day, we shine a spotlight on all of those who donate, volunteer and promote the work of so many amazing charities! For all that you do...Thank You!
