What is FM?

Yes again and everyday, What is FM? and Why FM is So important? and what is the relationship between FM as a profession and other professions around,,,,

For me as a person, FM has a clear definition specially after April2018, or after ISO41001:20018 formulation, but we still need some effort to advocate the real meaning of FM and the impact of FM as a daily activities and how we can support "quality-of-life" , and how we can support SDGs more than any professions and improve core business productivities, we need to say that again using all platforms we have, translate the value of FM into other meaning to make it easy to everyone, we have to talk more with non-facility management staff about Facilities Management, also with national leaders, we have to move more vertically, say loudly in everyplace we have or every event we attend, family events, business events, trying to do more efforts to spreading more information about Facility management profession.

So, from my point of view the ultimate goal for every profession is to serve people and support people's quality of life, with products and/or services.

Also , from my point of view, the ultimate goal from Facility Management is to

" provide a safe, healthy, productive and sustainable environment in terms of health and aesthetics to meet the institutional productivity goals for which these facilities were established and also To actively participate in achieving the goals of a decent life, in addition to contributing to achieving local and global sustainable development goals and preserving lives and assets owned by individuals and private and/or public institutions".

What is World FM Day?

World FM Day is an initiative of Global FM The purpose of the Task Group is to prepare, plan and execute the activities to engage all GFM Members in the World FM Day (WFMD) celebrations.

About Global FM.

Global FM - Global FM

Global FM was established on 17 May 2006 by the coming together of the leading FM Associations of the day to collaborate and further their common objectives. Its stated objectives was to operate as a single, united entity promoting Facilities Management and as a conduit for furthering the knowledge and understanding of FM. Its stated intent was:

• To encourage greater collaboration between FM communities
• To utilise the diverse cultures and strengths of each member organisation to enhance the skills and knowledge of their members
• To promote knowledge, standards and education in the FM profession. Using one voice, collaborate on the development and means to share the practices and recognition of FM

It originally identified 6 ‘hot topics’ that were agreed would benefit from collaborate effort across all member associations, they were:

• Sustainability
• Innovation
• Education and Training
• Risk Management
• Facilities Management – now and in the future
• Economy and Cultures across borders

As can be seen the topics that were originally considered as being appropriate to the sector and which could be better developed and promoted in collaboration of the member association are as relevant today as they were in 2006.

The Egyptian Facility Management Association

The Egyptian Facility Management Association was established as a not-profit institution according to the amended law regulating the practice of Egyptian national associations No. 149 of 2019, with the aim of contributing to the development of the facilities management industry in Egypt, whether at the individual level, or at the level of governmental or private entities, and to be a representative of the work of specialists and dealers with the facilities management industry to ensure sustainable development, dissemination and exchange of knowledge and experiences in various fields of this industry.
