5th June! Designated as World Environment Day, in 1972, celebrated for the first time in 1974. The intention behind celebrating the day was to create such a platform where every matter related to environment could be discussed, resolved and spread awareness, be it like air pollution, water pollution, wildlife risks or anything affecting or could affect the idea of sustainability.

Theme 2022: Only One Earth

Let’s take care of it.

The environment and the significance of its well-being on the well-being of every specie on earth is pretty clear and can never be ignored. With the non-stop advancement in technology and industrialization, environmental pollution has been a global problem, not just associated with a certain region. Over the last three decades, environmental threats have been increasing and yet now, they have reached to their extreme potential where the lethal side effects are inevitable if not taken care of, as urgently as possible. These threats and concerns have serious implications be it health, clean water access, heat waves, frequency of natural disasters, from survival to extinction of species, destruction of ozone layer, Ice melting and global warming etc. If these concerns would not be taken seriously now? Our generation won’t even have a clean air to breath in.

The irony of the current global situation is that mankind is utilizing up all the existing resources to make the life and its quality better and luxurious, however, with all of our activities, we are making it difficult for ourselves and the coming generations to survive with dignity.

We are utilizing the existing resources faster than we can actually recover. This havoc has created environmental emergencies:

• The warming of the global temperature and that too so quick is becoming extremely difficult to adapt, naturally.
• Our air, land, and water reserves, everything is getting poisonous. Our life depends on them.
• More than 1 million species are on the verge of becoming extinct.

There has to be a way out, and there can be. All we need to understand and connect with our nature more, spread the awareness among the masses, take steps and transform our activities and economies towards more nature inclusivity. We must transform ourselves, our activities, our future plans and our technologies from harming the earth to healing it.

Time is running out. It’s high time we understand, plan and take actions. ?It is time! For the retrospection. Keeping the global warming below 1.5? is the goal, fighting the climate change is the goal, reducing the carbon footprint is the goal, keeping the ozone layer safe is the goal, making “ONLY ONE EARTH” and the complete focus towards sustainability and compatible with nature.

#onlyoneearth is a global call for ACTION, to transform from lifestyle choices to policies, towards a cleaner, greener, bearable and sustainable environment. This is not just a slogan, this is only home, to safeguard it and make it cherish able. Let’s make changes in our daily routine, use our never-ending resources and energy providers, make living affordable by being energy independent, conserve the already existing resources, transform from conventional to ever lasting sources to light up our houses to economy.

Worlds Environment Day is a reminder for us, a call to recall our actions, see where are we wrong? How can we make up to our environment? How can we pause the damage already caused and stop it from the future destruction?
