World Environment Day Celebrations 2024

We love days like WED, because it gets people to pause - reflect a bit and also come together for Environmental Action! This year, our team had the opportunity to interact with a diverse set of audience - right from labour camp at Pride Purple Group and Godrej Properties Limited to being part of a focus group discussion for UN Global Compact Network India . Here's a sneak peak on how we're all coming together for the planet.

At one of our composting projects at Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. , Centralis - we engaged with housekeeping and residents on waste segregation at source.

Anil Gokarn also distributed Jan-Mitti (Citizen Compost) - compost made by the citizens for the citizens from their own wet waste. Residents and housekeeping - two very important stakeholders were part of this awareness session. Here's to doing more of that this year.

Composting is key to sustainability. Learning how to compost at source is fun, and is gratifying. Hamsa Iyer conducted a home composting workshop at The Farm - Ecoville .

The session here focused on bridging the knowledge gaps around home composting. Simplifying it, we had participants compost their 1 day's kitchen waste to see how it breaks down. Once successful, they will amplify it and scale up!

Sustainability is not just a buzz word with corporates, but also a pressing concern for various citizens. Hamsa Iyer spoke on various challenges around waste management, courtesy Citizen Sustainability group anchored by Priyadarshini Karve and INECC .

Grateful to the opportunity, and we also thank Pournima A. who provided extensive support in this event. We also met many other Eco Entrepreneurs like Jungle Bound Products Pvt. Ltd. , Vaayubiogas . , OrjaBox LLP among many others. The tribe is growing, and we are all glad to be part of the solutions network.

At Zensar Technologies , we had the opportunity to be part of a focus group discussion themed around sustainability as part of UN Global Compact Network India . We met a few corporates and many inspiring individuals who are keen on enabling the SDGs with a vision.

We thank Ratnesh Pandit Deep Chandra Papnoi for inviting us, and be part of the conversation that's steering climate action on matters of waste. It was also lovely to meet Shubha Kumar , Bhanushri Sharma , Gayatri Joshi , Shikhi Thakar from the Zensar team.

With Pride Purple Group , we are composting over 350 kgs of wet waste from their labour colony everyday. We thank them for the opportunity we got to talk to residents of their labour camp on segregation of waste.

Over 200+ construction workers attended this session. While this was a first introductory session, we hope to deep dive in the coming days and weeks to spread the awareness with them, to sustain the efforts at site. Our Team Members - Abhishek Aradwad and Sambhaji Doiwad spearhead this efforts along with Pride Purple's team - Janardhan Patil, part of Nidhi Jain 's team.

At Emerald Waters, Godrej Properties used our compost for supporting the trees, they planted on the occasion of WED 2024.

Team Members Abhishek Aradwad and Kajal Jadhav played a crucial role in giving the plants the nutrition they truly deserve.

Alongside all this action, we also had the honor of being part of Pune Municipal Corp (PMC) 's WED celebrations.

Esteemed dignitaries like Hon. Ex-MP, Smt. Vandana Chavan, Senior PMC Officials, Prof. Erach Barucha, Shyamala Desai, Atul Wagh, Vaisshali Patkar , Sachin Punekar attended the event. It's always inspiring to see the city's eco-champions come together on the same platform.

Hamsa Iyer also engaged with Sakon , a corporate as part of their associate engagement on the theme of Waste this year. Thank you Snehal Solankar for the opportunity and for setting the session up seamlessly.

Over 300 participants joined online for the two sessions we conducted through the day. We had an amazing time discussing on how much waste we produce at home to understanding what each of us can do at our residential societies.
