The size of a nation's economy is proportional to the nation's level of importance and its influence.
The struggle of nations and ancient empires to control trade routes, raw materials or knowledge is not something new, just research The Silk Road, The History of Oil, and even see the beginnings of the space race.
This is mainly due to the fact that a nation, by having enough of these resources, reaches one of the key conditions for the growth of production and the stimulus for the generation of wealth.
Since the end of the First World War, the United States, clearly understanding this principle of ensuring the growth of its nation, has been developing policies and strategies that allow it to achieve economic leadership.
Maintaining this position as the world's leading economy is not easy and time has allowed other countries to better organize their development, it is there that we now see the emergence of a change in the centers of economic power.
The projections of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund show us that by 2024 China will be the first economy in the world, followed by the United States, however other relevant data of these projections are: The old European powers lose relevance compared to 4 of the 5 BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China).
All this is giving more credibility to the hypothesis of the Tripolar Order that should exist between the US, China, and Russia, however, it is likely that the first of these countries, due to its tradition of being the first power, will find it difficult to accept to build a new balance.
Currently, the United States is the leading economic power and there is no doubt about that, however, it is closely followed by China, and it is clear that each nation has its respective leadership on certain issues. Now, can there be a very sensitive issue where China leads the way ?.
Among the many things that can stand out in the United States, one of them is its strong commitment to research and development, that in figures from the World Economic Forum positioned it in 2018 as the first in investment in Research and Development with 476.5 Billions of dollars vs 370.6 Billions of China.
Despite all that powerful and constant investment, the US ranks number 9 among the world's most innovative economies according to the 2020 Bloomberg Innovation Index.
However, this position does not cloud the results of years of promoting innovation and has allowed it to show that 6 of the 10 most innovative companies in the world are American.
Even with all these figures that demonstrate the relevance of the issue for the United States, the truth is that in terms of the development of fifth-generation telecommunications, China achieved it first.
Already in November 2019 in China, the launch of the 5G network was carried out and a few days later the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Asian giant announced the formation of a specialized team for the research and development of 6G.
The curious thing here is that the president of Huawei Ren Zhengfei had already announced since September 2019 that his company investigates the 6G Network, according to the EFE agency.
In fact, the dominance of this technology by China has been evident since 2017, when in full MWC2017 the first phone with 5G technology was presented by the Chinese company ZTE, with the name ZTE Gigabit Phone. in that same year, none of the American companies showed anything related to the subject.
It is possible that the best hunter misses a target! Now, what is the relevance of the technology that they have developed in China? : We are talking about the ability to transmit information 10 times faster than the 4G network. this data powerfully impacts the entire planet.
What this represents is that the country that develops and applies this technology will have a global advantage in defense, economy, and development for decades to come.
The above may explain why we see the great powers investing resources in this technology and in parallel as if by magic, a current has emerged under pseudoscientific arguments and conspiracy theories that have been affecting the expansion of Chinese 5G in the world.
Within this surprising world of conspiracy theories about 5G, it is discussed: 1. That it causes cancer, 2. It has been said that it would be the cause of the COVID-19 outbreak, 3. That 5G towers cause the death of birds in their around. 4. That the mind can be controlled through this network. 5: Even that you want to control the climate with this technology.
The point is that there is no scientific basis to prove any of this.
Perhaps the truth about this boycott is simpler and is explained by David Sanger, Correspondent of The New York Times and author of the book The Perfect Weapon (The Perfect Weapon), He explains: “It is considered that Huawei and other Chinese companies will control in the future between 40% to 60% of the world's telecommunications networks ”.
This represents a concern for many countries about the Chinese government legislation that obliges Chinese companies to cooperate with the intelligence services on matters of national security.
Even though something similar happens in the United States with North American companies, at this moment in history this is not to the liking of nations such as the United States and the United Kingdom, among others.
The truth is that as much as one insists on justifying the actions of the US and the United Kingdom with the thesis of National Security, it seems that all this so-called War of Technological Supremacy only seeks to generate time for each nation to develop its own technology 5G. Because in the end, what is at stake is who will occupy the position of world economic leadership in the coming decades with the advantage that this advance will bring.
