Every year on the Spring Equinox, Earth Day is celebrated, the largest demonstration in favor of the environment on our planet, decided by the United Nations, with the aim of raising awareness about the protection of the earth.
The idea of creating an "Earth Day" was first discussed in 1962. It finally took shape in 1969 following the environmental disaster caused by the oil leak from a well off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
In recent editions, the Day has involved up to one billion people in 192 countries around the world.
It has thus become an educational and informative event with planetary dimensions on the themes of pollution, desertification, the destruction of ecosystems and the extinction of non-renewable resources.
But it is also an individual responsibility for consumption to be reasonable, inspired by the protection of the "common house" of all women and men.
In France, on April 22, 1990, Earth Day was celebrated by tens of thousands of people bringing together thousands of activities spread across the country. To date, this event constitutes the largest environmental mobilization in French history.
