World Day for Safety and Health at Work

777 hours of safety training dedicated to ILSA employees in 2023

On the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, next April 28th, at ILSA S.p.A. we wish to reflect on the steps we have taken to create a safe workplace.

Since 2011, ILSA has adhered to the Occupational Safety Management System based on UNI INAIL guidelines "Lavoro Sicuro (Safe Work)" because we believe that every employee should be able to work in a hazard-free environment where their health and safety are guaranteed.

Prevention first

We believe in preventive measures to avoid accidents and injuries. This begins with thorough assessments of various risks to identify potential hazards and take timely actions to mitigate them. The strict use of collective protective devices (CPDs) and individual protective devices (IPDs) is paramount in this regard. Periodic safety checks on plants, machinery, and equipment are then conducted, along with audits carried out by competent personnel. Detailed annual health prevention screenings for workers are provided by the company's competent physician.

Information

All internal workers, external contractors, and visitors are informed about the risks associated with their activities and their stay at our facilities. Procedures and instructions on how to carry out activities safely are available to all workers.

Continuous training, coaching, and updating

Safety is not just about rules and regulations; it's about actively engaging employees with knowledge and training. In 2023, 777 hours were allocated to various safety topics, involving almost all employees through rotational theoretical and practical update courses on the use of specific equipment, firefighting activities, and first aid. We also have a group of volunteers trained in defibrillator use.

New hires as well as those changing roles within the organization receive comprehensive training, including new safety procedures and work instructions, with training provided by internal tutors in mentoring.

With the recent integration of Huber's Sustainability Management System (HSMS) (J.M. Huber Corporation acquired ILSA in 2022), we are aligning ourselves with the corporation's "8 life-saving rules," further enhancing our safety protocols. Together, we are creating a workplace where safety is not just an objective but a culture.
