WORLD CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION WEEK - start of a new book-project

This week marks the start of World Creativity and Innovation Week 2021, beginning on the 15th, Leonardo da Vinci’s 569th birthday.

On the 1st of February, I started a series of post’s here on LinkedIn, dedicated to the concept of creativity. I called attention to the top 10 job skills of tomorrow, published by the World Economic Forum, where creativity and creative thinking are inherent in all of these 10 skills. Whether to update technological knowledge, or to develop skills of problem-solving, leadership or self-management, people need to think creatively.

This is the reason that at Mindshake, again this year, we join the international movement to celebrate Creativity and Innovation.

In collaboration with the designer duo T.I.N.A., this time we want to celebrate Creativity and Innovation with the book-project "Creativity and Innovation Affairs”.

Are they or are they not ...?

In the world of innovation, several concepts are not clear enough, many people consider them ambiguous.

For example, what is the difference between radical and disruptive innovation? Is Social Innovation the same as Social Intervention? And in relation to Creativity, Creativity and Creative Thinking, are these concepts synonymous? Innovation and Invention? Or Design and Design Thinking?

By means of a collection of ambiguous binomials (pairs) of various current creativity and innovation topics (social, cultural, ecological, economic, industrial, etc.), the book-project aims to contribute to the discussion by clarifying several prominent concepts.

To identify such misunderstood binomials, the Mindshake Team is inviting professionals from the domain of creativity and innovation to participate:

Phase 1:

On April 15th at 17:00 (Western European Summer Time) concepts related to creativity and innovation will be generated, online.

If you feel like participating, please subscribe to this link

Phase 2:

On April 21st, World Creativity and Innovation Day, at 17:00 (WEST), interested participants will select the concepts which will be presented in the book "Creativity and Innovation Affairs”. If you would like to participate in this selection phase, please register here.

Phase 3:

By the end of this year, the book will have been written. It will consist of texts that explain the pairs of ambiguous concepts selected on the 21st of April. The authors will be the ones who feel motivated to participate, and who show specific knowledge about the chosen binomials. Authors can be invited or self-propose.

The book will be launched on April 15, 2022 to open another World Creativity and Innovation Week.

?

The objectives of the project, in addition to the celebration of creativity and innovation, are:

  • Co-creation of a publication that explores and clarifies ambiguous concepts associated with the world of innovation and creativity;
  • The carrying out of a process that favours the engagement of the professional community in the creation of a book;
  • Involvement of several theoretical and practical international thinkers in the domain of creativity and innovation.

We want to challenge the creativity, design and innovation community of LinkedIn to join in the different online sessions of the project. Will we see each other on the 15th?
