World Creativity and Innovation Week 2023

Have you heard about the World Creativity and Innovation Week/Day, an event to celebrate worldwide human creativity and innovation?

Since its founding in 2001, the WCIWeek begins on April 15, Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday, and ends on the 21st. In 2017, the UN - United Nations, recognised April 21 as the official date to celebrate creativity and innovation worldwide, with resolution 71/284, which states that “[...] human creativity and innovation, at both the individual and group levels, have become the true wealth of nations in the twenty-first century, [...]". The 21st is part of the resolution 70/1 (9/25/2015) with the titleTransforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in which it adopted a comprehensive set of universal and transformative Sustainable Development Goals. In this way, WCIW emphasises the importance of a new way of thinking to create a decent life for all, on a sustainable planet.

At Mindshake we are proud to participate since 2015 in the international celebration of the World Creativity and Innovation Week with a public event and a collective publication, thus joining the international movement dedicated to the promotion of Creative Thinking in the evolution of societies.

At the end of 2022 the leader of the European ambassadors of WCIW Dorte Nielsen invited Mindshake's founder Katja Tschimmel to be the Portuguese Ambassador taking over from BRILHO do ERRO by Ivete Azevedo who embraced this role in the last years through her creative life and her work as the director of Torrance Center Portugal.

Thus, at Mindshake, we are happy and proud to support Katja in her new role as the Portuguese Ambassador of WCIW.

At the moment we are contacting partners with whom we have worked in the domains of creativity, innovation and sustainability to foster the organisation of public events in these areas. Spreading the sustainable creativity virus is our intention!

The mote for WCIW 2023 is INSPIRE, and as specific inspirational thematics we have chosen:
