World Creativity and Innovation Day: Towards Achieving A Better Place To Live In

In the?#media, we always see issues like?#climatechange,?#poverty, or human rights violations. So, as a?#global?community, we want to achieve higher levels of human development. Even in the most remote areas, we can see?#changemakers?developing?#innovative?ideas and products to tackle these issues and thus create a better place to live for their communities. Unfortunately, we rarely see these ideas celebrated online as they lack the support to go big.

However,?#innovation?and?#creativity?go hand in hand with human development, which is the main reason behind establishing World Creativity and Innovation Day (#WCID). It was founded on 25th May 2001 by Marci Segal in Toronto, Canada based on a view that during a crisis, people use their creative instinct for?#ideageneration,?#decisionmaking, and devising action plans to get through it.?

Fast forward to 2017, the UN declared 27th April as WICD to highlight creativity as the primary pathway to solving global issues and achieving the 2015?#SustainableDevelopmentGoals. The goal is to instill the creative confidence to view any problem as an opportunity to drive solutions in any form that can?#positively?change a person's life.?

Creativity is bursting at the seams in children and students. And no matter their economic status, they should get the support to actualize their ideas. However, working-class students often face?#inequalities?in accessing innovation?#opportunities. To align with the main goal of WICD of boosting innovation globally, Ground Z aims to eliminate innovation inequality by developing a gamified pocket-sized lab to equip working-class students with?#access?and opportunities to innovate and pave their?#leadership?journey.?

For this week, we have decided to run a campaign with a competition that calls all students, either individually or in teams, to revamp any kind of task or daily chore into something new and different. It doesn’t have to be restricted to just that but you can also share any unique breakthrough ideas. You can participate by sharing your submissions in a video or reel format with us on social media to participate. Our goal is to drive students to unleash their?#brilliant?creative minds and innovate what they do daily. As goes with WCID’s goal, we want them to see everything, be it small or big, as an opportunity to be creative while fostering a?#collective?#mindset?to be innovative as teams if they choose to do.?

To conclude, in our hectic lives, creativity can often take a backseat and with so many pressing issues around the globe, it is the time for everyone to start thinking?#outside?the box. We need to dive deep into our innate creativity to push the boundaries of what's possible to resolve the pertinent global issues surrounding our daily lives through innovation. But let's also remember that as a global community, we must support and celebrate every young?#changemaker?in their path to innovation too for a better tomorrow
