World Cities Day 2023: We can achieve a sustainable urban future!
Today is World Cities Day 2023 , a date of major importance for cities in Europe and across the globe. This is the day we unite to call for greater cooperation between local and national governments to address urban challenges.
The theme for this year's global day is 'financing a sustainable urban future', an issue which is of great importance to Eurocities and our members. Today, we repeat our commitment to work with the EU to develop greener, more liveable cities for local people. ?
As a sign of our ambition, this month we organised a meeting in the European Parliament between city leaders and MEPs to discuss opportunities to work together ahead of next year's European elections.?
We launched the 'Talent Hub for Cities and Regions,' a partnership with CEMR and UCLG World Secretariat to develop young professionals in territorial diplomacy.
We took a central role in the Urban Mobility Days in Seville, and five more cities joined our 'Lille Call to Action,' showing their commitment to sustainable urban culture. We also demonstrated the importance of food sustainability and a digital urban future.?

Cities and MEPs share vision for green, prosperous future
