Okay, so the headline is a little misleading for what today's blog is really about, but there IS a link!
We all know the world is changing, in just about every way possible and mostly, not for the better in my opinion. But how can you make a change in your own life and the world in general, that will affect others for he better?
I fight cyclic #depression, which comes around without any help or assistance from others, but others can indeed, create unwanted additional depressive episodes, by the very things they do and say.
The term #doomscrolling has become one of those overused terms in modern society, but yesterday I realised, I myself am a 'doom-scroller'. Every morning when I get up, I switch on my laptop and start scrolling through the various news sites and social media pages, which only really tells me a whole load of bad news about what is going on in the world. (Except CAT pictures, they always make me smile!)
Cats and my music making, are the two things that keep me sane in an otherwise insane world and that's why BOTH will always be part of my life.

I used to go out a lot with what I thought at the time, were 'friends', but oh how quickly THEY disappeared when my fortunes changed from very affluent, to penniless a couple of decades ago! So these days, I venture out only rarely, and with the same two or three close friends who are always there for me through thick and thin.
When I do go out, I witness pubs and restaurants full of people staring at their mobile phones and not really reacting to the people they are with. Same on the streets, people staring down at their phones and narrowly avoiding walking into each other or out in front of traffic!
I don't use trains anymore, unless I have absolutely no choice, because complete assholes think it is acceptable to play their favourite music or comedy sketches at FULL VOLUME in the carriages! Warning - a smack in the mouth often offends!!
So I have reached the following conclusion.... Yes, the world is changing in all the wrong ways in my humble opinion. So, how can YOU make a change? Simple, limit your time online each day, don't use your phone when you are out unless you get an incoming call that may be urgent and if so, move outside to take that call! But most of all, make your social time SOCIAL again and put the phone away on silent and enjoy the company of your friends instead.
