World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day

Today is World Cancer Day. This day, three years ago, we received my diagnosis of stage IIIa melanoma. In April, I will get my final staging exams from my local cancer centre. Due to this diagnosis, I have five times the risk of getting another cancer. I have come to terms with this. And as an old SF guy, I have attacked it head-on. I get a dermatologist to take pictures of every suspected skin anomaly four times each year. I will get an MRI on my birthday each year to make sure that no metastasis will be missed.

But most importantly, I have the SkinVision app. I rarely endorse any product. I focus on people and their training. But this is one app that has made a difference in my life. Three years ago, I downloaded this app and took a picture of my mole. It suggested that I should get it checked in the next few weeks. I got an email four hours later from them saying that their dermatologist had reviewed my picture, and they suggested that I expedite my appointment. I did, and the dermatologist took out that mole immediately. One week later, on World Cancer Day 2022, we got the official diagnosis.

Don’t feck around with your skin. Get this app and use it. It is also helpful for remote medics to have this app for any patient that you have who presents with wonky moles.

The Bottom Line:?You have two options in life: get your skin checked or risk death. Your choice.
