World Blood Donor Day: honoring the selfless donations at Linxens

Heroes don’t always wear capes: sometimes, they roll up their sleeves.?

Today, we wanted to thank the ones from Linxens that give their blood.?In Dresden, Linxens Germany is teaming up with companies in the vicinity to organize a temporary “blood donation center” with the Red Cross and allow employees to donate within the working hours.?

Our colleagues in Ayutthaya are participating on July 27 in a blood donation drive titled “Ban Wa Hi-Tech Donates Blood to Extend Lives of Friends.” This event, organized by Ban Wa Industrial Estate (where Linxens Thailand is located) in collaboration with Thai Industrial Estate Company Limited and the Thai Red Cross Society, is also a way to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on the auspicious occasion of his birthday.?

In Changi, volunteers have formed a “blood donation team”, going on a mission at least twice a year to serve the community, this year in January, May and soon in August! On this occasion, we asked Yean Wei Yeap , from our Singapore team (that has just obtained the bronze medal after 25 donations) why he was donating and why he thinks people should too:?

“I've been donating blood for 10 years now, and every time I roll up my sleeve, I am reminded of the incredible impact a single donation can make. Donating blood is quick, simple, and virtually painless. Each session takes about an hour from start to finish, but the sense of fulfillment and the knowledge that you've helped save a life lasts much longer.??

When we donate together, we create a ripple effect of positivity and encouragement. Each of us has the power to inspire others. ?One pint of blood can save up to three lives. Think about that—just a small act of generosity from us can bring hope and new life to families in their most challenging times.”

Of course, to ensure that donated blood is safe for those who receive it, extensive testing is required on a variety of biomarkers. Today, these tests are run in laboratories, which are convenient for well-equipped territories, but may delay response in low-equipped ones or render it inefficient.?

Linxens Healthcare is investing in biosensors and point-of-care testing, meaning we could potentially analyze blood samples right at the donation center, providing quicker results compared to traditional lab analysis, allowing for faster determination of a donor's eligibility. This would reduce wait times and allow us to identify new donors who may have been previously deferred due to limitations in traditional testing timelines.?

Thank you to all our donors for your selfless contributions. Your generosity opens the way to a better life.?

Each one of us that can donate and wants to make a difference can reach out to their nearest donation center.?
