As part of Building Design. #WA100 2023, we will be running a full-day international event talking to some of the biggest international architects about the reality of working in the global arena – from an operations, design, technological and specification perspective. The built environment sector is facing a time of unprecedented challenge. With inflationary pressures rising, political and economic uncertainty and the climate crisis all taking centre stage the obstacles facing architecture and design practices are undeniable.

In this session we will take a look at the technological levers and solutions practices are using to design for the future. Our panel of experts will discuss how these different solutions help tackle challenges facing the sector, as well as the barriers to their implementation and how to overcome them.

With countries across the world becoming increasingly interconnected, a rising number of businesses are operating in multiple jurisdictions. And firms within the built environment sectors are no exception to this, meaning the question of how best to design, manage and deliver commercial projects across borders has never been more important.

In this session our panel of experts will unpack the realities of operating internationally. They will discuss both the challenges and opportunities in operating a multinational firm, designing international projects, and collaborating with transnational teams. The team will also discuss how to navigate global geopolitical events and varying regulatory markets.
