It works if you work

It works if you work

One of the things I find being involved in network marketing industry is that there is a whole philosophy that is very different than what most people perceive. The whole idea of network marketing is just that, the establishing of a network or spending time identifying who is in your current circle of influence that may benefit from your product or service, and then reaching beyond with your service offering. Historically network marketing seemed to bring with it a dark cloud as it was assumed that every new business builder would often try and recruit everyone and everybody with arms reach for the sole purpose of receiving a healthy commission cheque. That can be true for some, but I have encountered that in car sales, furniture sales, insurance sales, and every commission based business out there, so it is certainly not isolated to network marketing. My current study of the Mutual Fund Industry has shown me a much more dishonest and corrupt industry that continues to unlawfully milk millions of dollars of the public's investment savings despite pressure for them to provide more transparency, with the financial industry itself blocking the government’s poor attempt for better regulation over the hidden fee’s many are paying. (there are reputable brokers and investment opportunities, but you need to buy carefully.)

In contrast, the DSA, the direct selling association, the governing body for network marketing, has a very specific and strict criterion that not only protects the consumer from being taken advantage of, it forces current and future network marketing companies to raise their standards and to ensure they provide a tangible product offering and the necessary tools required to build a profitable network marketing business. In short, the DSA, the network marketing industry has consistently shown itself to be an ethical leader in the business world, generating in excess of  91-billion-dollar worldwide.

As I mentioned previously, the philosophy around the networking marketing is a bit different but perhaps a better way looking at business. In order to truly succeed in any industry, you have to have belief in your product and its ability to affect positive change for the consumer. Most network marketers have had a profound experience with a company’s product and are excited to share their success with others, but often get tripped up when it comes to the business side of the industry, feeling awkward and self-conscious when trying to discuss the business opportunity, somehow feeling a bit inauthentic when there is a possible commission attached to the outcome. In truth, most of us would and do share freely about products or services we are excited about, so in kind, we are simply doing the same thing. What I truly appreciate about network marketing is our success is directly proportionate to the amount of people we can help. We do have a fiduciary responsibility however to provide the product best suited for our customer needs, not the one that provides us with the best commission payout. A famous adage suggest that “we can have whatever we want in life as long as we can help others get what they want first”.

The other component requires a bit more effort, and it the development of knowledge on the business model of your networking company, the how-to of ordering products, product returns, how one gets paid, and how to successfully guide others in the business of network marketing. In standard business models, we would not have a job for long if we did not know operating procedures and customer care protocols, regardless of how much we enjoyed the companies offering, and the same can be said in network marketing. For the vast majority of people involved in network marketing, most are consumers of products, with the rest involved in the business opportunities the company provides. The overreaching benefit of networking marketing is the capacity to create “residual income”, meaning generating an income passively long after the initial sale has been done. This is the incredible potential of networking, starting with one or two customers in the beginning to end up with tens of thousands of satisfied, repeat customers whose purchases help drive our residual income. The other benefit of this business model is that we can “earn while we learn” meaning that we do not have to quit our present job or career to earn money through our network marketing business, we can take the time to develop the skills and generate a secondary income that will augment our present income, and if with time and effort, can even surpass it!  If you find yourself hitting the same financial brick wall perhaps the network marketing industry has something for you. Take your time to find a product you can easily get behind, ones that fit into your lifestyle and you see yourself consuming or making use of for a long time to come. When it comes to finding business partners, make sure you align with people who are like minded, people who you feel comfortable having at your dinner more than once. And lastly, be willing to do the work necessary to establish a successful business. The rules that apply to business are the same straight across the board, and the network marketing business model is no different, however, unlike standard business models, network marketing businesses literally have no ceiling on earning potential. Truly, your financial future can be finally 100% in your hands.
