.....and it works!
For those of you playing along at home wondering if my off-line converter works or not, I have just powered it up and it worked first time! It looks rather cute, don't you think? I do like the sexy red Wurth electrolytic capacitors. Here it is below connected to an electronic load. As you can see, the output voltage regulation is not great...
The common mode choke was a pain to wind.... I've placed it next to my life savings so you can really see how small it is. Note the reinforced barrier between the two windings.
The finished article:
For fun I thought I would have a nose at the thermals. The module barely breaks into a sweat. You can see that the switching MOSFET is dissipating most of the power.

4 年Excellent work Simon. I'd love to help Gipfel with custom coil winding requirements if you have the need to outsource. The smallest winding we produce is 0.30mm inner diameter with an outer diameter of less than 1.00mm!

4 年Looks like plenty of winding window left over on the EP7(?). Is that for safety clearance or because EP5 is impossibly small to wind?
