Workplace Trends of 2022: Hybrid Work Model

Is Hybrid Work Model here to stay?

The Pandemic has caused wide scale disruption. This has seeped into the workplace model too. For organizations that’ve been accustomed to seeing their employees working fulltime in their premises, this has come has a jolt.

Firms that are digitally driven will hold promise. An opportunity to forge relationships beyond the office walls. The space between home and office has considerably blurred and the two-year hiatus has only accentuated this situation. It’s true we can’t get back our good old days of office camaraderie, but we can choose the new norm to beat the odds that are stacked against us.

During the Pre Covid era, working from home was seen as a privilege, and one that was only enjoyed by the higher echelons of the corporate ladder. Corporates enjoyed building their enterprises and the ones that were teeming with a large workforce, progress of associates/ employees were directly calibrated against the time they spent at their workplace.

Not anymore, not again.

Pandemic happened. Bane or boon, the corporate world has woken up to this new reality. Organizations have understood the need to let their workforce enjoy flexibility at work. The Hybrid Model was born.

Employees are allowed to split their worktime between office and elsewhere. This elsewhere could be time spent working at the comfort of their home or wherever they are stationed.

Does Hybrid Work model make sense?

01.???A Hybrid Model gives teams to meet and interact at a personal level.

02.???It prevents virtual meeting burnout.

03.???It improves work life balance.

Is your organization thinking of switching to Hybrid work model? Here are the factors, you should consider:

Recent studies from McKinsey discovered that about eighty percent of remote workers enjoy working from home, and sixty-nine percent are more productive working from home, than office.

01.???Striking the right balance: According to a PWC research, fifty-five percent of employees prefer working remotely, at least three days per week. Thus, striking a balance is key to succeeding in this approach.

02.???Company Culture: The foundation of any business lies in Company Culture. The right culture must support the chosen model.?

03.???Data Security: Cybersecurity training, software, company-issued systems are some of the things to be considered before adopting the hybrid work model. It is worth checking policies, contract stipulations, and regulations before permitting remote working for your employees.?

The Hybrid Model could be the right model to manage operations in the Digital World we all are living in. Digital workspace challenges revolve around handling duality. In this case, duality stands prominent in the fact that employees will have to juggle between dual ways of operating – real-time and virtual ways of working.

If organizations manage to find that sweet spot of drafting clear policies around hybrid model of working, employees will be in a position to leverage the best of both worlds.

In another survey, sixty-six percent of employees say they are worried about their health and safety when it comes to returning to work.

Another striking advantage of going the Hybrid way is it saves on real estate expenses. Companies can figure out, how much office space they need, based on their estimates.

Very well written article CB... Did you in your research look at how the situation is in countries like India? That would be an interesting add-on.... More mature countries were not alien to the WFH concept. In fact offshoring was brought in to reduce office consumption (so many of our on-site folks keep working only from home and rarely visit office ) So research from emerging countries would be a good reference to see the worldwide impact.
