Workplace Safety & Compliance Training-A NEW WAY

I’ve told the story of when I was working with my dad and how he kept on telling me to clean up, and I said I’d get around to it. I put up a ladder over a hole in the floor that was covered in debris—down I went. Nothing was hurt but my dignity. But it could have been much worse.
Every worksite has potential hazards: chemicals, falls, forklifts, tools and equipment, improper use of ladders, heat stroke from working in high temperatures or frostbite from working in cold, slipping or tripping or falling from a height to name a few. As an employer, how do you ensure your employees are retaining the information they receive in those full day training sessions?
Enter Ving!
The Ving Safety Training & Compliance Platform
A few years ago I came across the Ving Safety Training & Compliance Monitoring platform. It’s a fantastic platform for on-the-job training. Ving has a microburst training model, so you don’t have to pull your employees off the job site for hours. These microburst training sessions are typically under 5 minutes long each.
As an employer, you get to pick the training topics, microburst length, and frequency; then you can get back to work while Ving keeps employees on track with training through completion.
This is a great way to keep in touch with your decentralized workforce.

How Is The Info Delivered?
Ving leverages a multichannel delivery system. Have an important message you want people to see now, text it. To make sure people have on-demand information just before performing a task or using a specific tool, use a QR code that employees scan to retrieve on-demand checklists and quick safety tips. I really like the idea of a QR code, because the reality is we always have our phones on us.
For less immediate training needs, email assignments, or direct employees to sign-on to their training account. All-access, no barriers, no sign-on, no plug-in, no download, no excuses.
Pick From a Library or Customize Your Content
Ving boasts a robust library of required safety training, HR compliance (sexual harassment to ethics), and core skills (communication to conflict resolution), a course for nearly every job type.
Courses are ready to use as-is, or you can customize them to your company's specific needs. I know working on my crew is a bit of a unique opportunity as we also film our construction, so I like the idea of custom content specifically for my company.
Advantages of Using Ving!
- Saves time. You don’t have to keep repeating the same information to your team, if they have access to the training videos. The platform also tracks who read, watched and listened to the content. Dashboards and reports are ready for review at anytime.
- Right time, Right Place. Your team has the information needed to finish the job safely, in bite-sized content pieces which is easy to digest and remember
- Full Courses to Unlimited Microbursts. Ving already has a database of safety, HR compliance and core skills training content.
Train The Next Generation
I respect contractors who take on apprentices and help them get their training and hours. But, are those young people working without proper safety training? I hope not. It’s a bad combination: inexperienced workers, potentially dangerous workplaces, no safety equipment or training. With Ving’s library of content, it's easy to have the right information in front of them, easily accessible.
I think Ving is a great platform for many industries, but specifically construction. I encourage you to take a look at the website to see if it’s a good fit for your company.
? Raising awareness on the long-term consequences of low voltage electrical shock exposure ??
4 年Hey Mike, I would love to speak to you about a workplace injury that is not getting enough attention. Please look at my profile and featured articles to learn more about the hazards of low voltage shock (under 1000V) and the delayed onset of symptoms. LOW VOLTAGE does not mean LOW RISK. Canada's only hospital that researches this injury is out of Toronto and is the Sunnybrook Hospital.

4 年My biggest pet peeve is job site cleanliness. Each and every job needs a scrap bucket . From the electrician sniping wires to the carpenters end cuts lying on the floor . It's so easy to clean as you go . It only takes a second to Clean up your mess .
