Workplace confidence killers and 5 ways that you can learn to beat them
Confidence plays a crucial role in your personal and career growth. Believing in yourself increases the likelihood of achieving your goals, because if we don't believe we can do it, or are worthy - no one else will. However, many of us still struggle with self-doubt in the workplace (and I include myself in this too!).
Several factors can undermine a person's confidence at work, including:
If any of these situations resonate for you, there are several ways you can build your confidence and overcome these workplace confidence killers.
Positive affirmations
When we start positively talking to ourselves on repeat, our minds will start to believe it. Because our mind doesn't know the difference between what is real and what isn’t, and those words you tell yourself create your reality. So talk nicely to yourself and make it a habit. Why not try saying a positive statement about yourself to yourself when you have your morning shower??
Visualise it?
Envisioning success can provide the confidence and emotions necessary to genuinely believe in yourself. So whether you're tackling a work presentation or worrying about the outcome of the project, picture the future version of the situation. It's all about nurturing your mind with positivity!

Take a timeout
It is important that when we are feeling the stress from the workplace, we take time out physically and mentally. Whether that is meditation, taking yourself on a solo walk in nature, working out or reading a good book, it is important that you release the stresses from within.?
Take action?
Stop chasing perfectionism and embrace the learning opportunities that come from taking action. For example, practise difficult conversations in the mirror until you're ready to have them in person. Taking action is essential for boosting confidence.
Develop the skill
Because self-confidence is certainly a skill! Find what works for you, it could be listening to a podcast, watching a Ted Talk, or reading a book. Or it could look like investing in a coach to create a space to explore, discover and learn about yourself.?
Working with a coach offers the opportunity to overcome what's holding you back, propelling you forward in living your best personal and professional life. A coach helps you break down large, complex situations and create steps for yourself to make progress.
Try incorporating one of these steps into your routine and gradually add others. By making small, manageable changes, you can create a sustainable boost in your confidence.
