I recently had an experience of working with about three startups. All lead by women. In one, I found a dynamic networker, second a super sales women and third a strong intuitionist. My perspective of doing business drastically shifted, as I was able to closely observe the way these women thought, the way the acted and took their decisions.
All three had one thing in common. Their zeal to overcome the odds presented, never give up attitude and a fabulous perspective to life. Let me share my experience one by one:
- The landscaping superwoman: What I could learn from her, was her ability to breezily pursue a prospect and convert him/her into a customer in no time. What touched me was her resilience in the toughest of the circumstances to stay bright and show up. Closing large deals with Tatas, Reliance, Adani and other multinationals for her was just like by product of her day to day thought process. With no support from family and a staff of 60+ uneducated gardeners depending on her for their livelihood, I found that "drive" can be found in the most challenging circumstances in life.
- The dry-fruit damsel: A stunning woman, with great intuition, who could sense that her retail chain was unwell without even getting into the nuances of business. A mother of three, amazed me when she came and said, "my stores are unwell". It almost sounded to me like a motherly instinct on display, when one of her child is not in great shape. She could easily put silence on the lips of a spreadsheet wizard, who could predict the outcome using the data. My learning from her was that, at times, your intuition could clearly outwit any data that can be crunched on a spreadsheet.
- The Hands on People Chooser: The most dynamic personality that I came across in recent times, was this selfless giver, who was catapulted to success by support of all those people who she relentlessly helped in years of her professional career. A hands on dynamite, she will work on any challenge presented to her with equal determination and positive attitude. What I continue to learn from her is the choice of people you help and need at the same time can give you a spring board to your goals in no time.
In summary, the women power when closely experienced can be the most fulfilling experience in the professional life of a man. Whatever said and done, one thing is for sure, these path breaking personalities will continue to shine like bright stars in the lives of their loved ones and give a silent breath of enthusiasm to people, who are vigilant enough to observe.
