Working Women Hormones

Working Women Hormones

Are you a working female?

Are you struggling to find balance, chillax or squeeze it all in? ??

Did you know that working women may alter their hormones just by being at “work?” And in turn these hormone changes can alter how a woman experiences life? ??

It’s fascinating and something I’ve been observing and writing about for over 18 years. Including writing a best selling book called Beauty & the Best Within, the hormonesmaking women wild, on the topic.

When women started entering the work force many roles started to change (and unfortunately some didn’t, like who cleans up) ??

From the 1960s until now, we’ve seen a rise in women entering the workforce. First in admin roles and now running big banks, pioneering aeronautical engineering and running large empires. ?????♀?the world is our oyster ??

This change hasn’t been sudden but definitely quick over a short space of time compared to the years humans have been on the planet with many women worldwide are now combining one or more “full time roles”.

This influx of women into the workforce hasn’t all been smooth. ??

Biologically (hormonally), women were designed to have babies, provide a place of comfort, nurture, nourish and many of the things women may find draining or not “female only” tasks anymore.

However... biological that’s what suits the estrogen/oxytocin blend.

I believe the 9-5 model suits men more than women.

Most women I know are better off entering their “work brain” after 11am. This gives them time to do what they need (connect with other women, exercise, reflect, prepare meals etc).

Most work environments suit men and create testosterone driven states. KPIs, performance appraisals, deadlines, budgets etc are all male-type approaches to work. Females work differently.

Collaboratively... ???? not competitively.

So the typical work place means women have to raise their male hormone in order to execute, survive, thrive and cope (especially if they are combining the combo of being a mother and working)!

When testosterone in women rises (which it can instantly - eg running late, traffic, pitching in the board room) women may exhibit stress, anxiety and feel different. That means it is harder to relax, enjoy life and even feel feminine!

On a positive note, elevated testosterone (female perspective) can make a woman feel stronger, more resilient and competitive! Great attributes for working. ????

The down side is, high testosterone in women, can make women feel short-fused, morph a little into blokes (whiskers, hair balding, acne) and develop cysts on their ovaries, belly fat or struggle to lose weight. ??

Discovering the work on, work-off-switch is invaluable (it may even save relationships).
