Working for Whom?

I used to pay 30% of my salary toward the mortgage. In other words, I worked for the mortgage company for 30% of my time.

Then I used to pay 10% of my salary toward auto loan repayment. In other words, I worked for the car finance company for 10% of my time.

And so on.

The question comes, when do we work for ourselves?

And I think it's when we focus more on making the world a better place and less on our accumulations.?

According to a famous study, money stops making us happy beyond an income of $75K.

"I used to pay 30% of my salary toward the mortgage. In other words, I worked for the mortgage company for 30% of my time." Many rich people also pay mortgages, and yet they work for themselves or others. They do it to leverage debt and invest their money in assets or businesses that bring them higher returns relative to their mortgage interest rate. But on a more extensive scope: 'You have not lived?today?until you?have done something for?someone?who?can never repay you.' John Bunyan
