Working Together - Are You Truly Working as a Team?
We recently had to move our piano to the second floor. Obviously, I knew that was not a task I was going to take on myself, and we called the movers in. At the same time, I was wondering how this upright piano was going to get up the stairs.?
This was one of the best examples of teamwork that I have seen in a very long time.?
They started wrapping that thing up with all of its bubble wrap, and then they got one of the trolleys to be able to move it in.?
But still, I'm watching this happen and I'm wondering how my piano is going to get to the second floor. What I ended up seeing is a perfect example of teamwork. Being in lockstep to quickly, easily, and successfully achieve a goal. It was precision. One on each corner of these gentlemen marching, 1, 2, 3, go. 1, 2, 3, go. That piano was up the stairs without a scratch on it, and without a scratch on the wall.? They broke a little bit of a sweat, but without too much of an effort on their part.?
I was just amazed by watching that. It sounds simple, we got a piano to the second floor.? However, they demonstrated how they're planning their forethought, their ability to be a team and nobody was standing out or working differently.? That should be what our definition of teamwork is.?
So, next time you've got that challenge, whatever the piano is that you have to get on the second floor, take the time to really be that member of the team and be the one willing to say that together you’re going to make it as easy as possible.
