Working through Disappointment
Alan Astin
I only work with the best candidates and clients and so should you when recruiting.
We can all take a leaf out of George Osborne's book on the stages of disappointment and learn a lesson from this...Yes, I was one of the 16 million that voted to remain in the EU. George described his 3 stages as follows which i can associate with:
Stage 1: Disbelief / Despair
Stage 2: Anger, blame - they messed it up so they can fix it
Stage 3 There are things to do, not sulk, and Mr Osborne followed anger with work to sort out what needs to be done.
In my own personal life 8 years ago last week we lost our first child, a little baby boy called William whilst the despair and disbelief will never ever go away, the anger and blaming both the doctors and our ancestors certainly did. As mentioned the grief will never disappear but we got our heads down and worked at things to sort them out. The quicker that you get to stage 3 and get rid of stage 2 the better off you will be. It took me 2 days last week to get to stage 3, how quick will you be to get there?
