Working with “Successful Entrepreneurs”

Working with “Successful Entrepreneurs”

If you work with successful entrepreneurs, you need to consider the following 20 common characteristics that are typical of successful entrepreneurs.

  1. Think longer-term rather than focusing most of their time on “putting out fires” relating to day-to-day problems
  2. Know what they want to achieve and develop a plan for how they are going to achieve it
  3. They see the path that needs to be followed to make their goals happen
  4. Focus on doing those things that lead towards attaining their goals
  5. Recognize the need for plans to make their goals happen and look for results from the key performance indicators for the results from the steps toward achieving the plans
  6. Try to identify what needs to happen in the short term to lead toward achieving their goals
  7. Enjoy coming up with new ideas, particularly outside the box ideas and see the potential outcome from the ideas if they are successful
  8. Persevere to overcome challenges instead of giving up
  9. Know their own strengths and weaknesses
  10. Try to identify the strengths and weaknesses of others with whom they work in order to use them best in accomplishing the entrepreneur's goals
  11. They are open to different perspectives but try to validate the value of the perspectives of others by asking “why,” “when” and “how” type questions
  12. Understand the value of building a team to achieve their goals
  13. Focus on actions, not words, and have little tolerance for excuses
  14. Try to be catalysts for the change they want to see happen
  15. Have a clear sense of purpose
  16. Have a positive attitude
  17. Are highly focused
  18. Are creative and resourceful
  19. Tend to be impatient with unnecessary administrative requirements, conversations, and processes that don’t contribute towards achieving their goals
  20. Are resilient
