Working Smarter with Copilot AI in Business Central

I help leaders in finance and sales to transform and automate their processes with business applications built on Dynamics 365 and Copilot AI
At its current stage, Copilot AI in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central streamlines the creation of product listings for online commerce. As a marketer, I feel quite ambivalent about this - a sentiment many other marketers can probably relate to.
Most of us have already encountered AI tools such as ChatGPT or WriteSonic, and while these represent significant strides forward, it's crucial to recognise that generative AI has its limits. They serve as a complement to your marketing efforts, rather than as a tool to completely overhaul the marketing text within your entire portfolio.
So, what exactly is Copilot AI for Dynamics 365?
For those new to it, Copilot AI essentially functions as an interactive, AI-powered assistant that spans across most of the Dynamics 365 platform - including sales, service, marketing, finance, and supply chain management. In fact, Copilot AI stands as the world’s first AI toolset natively built into both CRM and ERP applications.
In the forthcoming release of AI Copilot in Wave 2, Microsoft is addressing improvements to financial management. The focus is on using AI to effectively and intelligently automate account reconciliations.
Given this, and the recent update shared by the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central team in their Wave 2 plans, Microsoft is harnessing AI and integrating it into the core functionalities within the platform. This will largely support companies in managing their intercompany and consolidations.

Shifting focus to accounting, teams typically have to import bank statements into Business Central and reconcile transactions with their bank ledger entries. This ensures that all customer payments, refunds, and purchases are accounted for correctly.
While Business Central already alleviates some effort through automated transaction matching, the residual work to process unmatched transactions every week can be cumbersome and can lead to lost workdays. However, Copilot alleviates the accounting effort through enhanced transaction matching and provides natural language explanations for any proposed matches.
This is achieved via AI transaction matching that triggers human intervention for any unmatched transactions, while also providing generative cues on how these unmatched transactions could be managed.
